Revolving Empowerment Fund
The newest of all our projects is the Revolving Empowerment Fund, accessible to single mothers, widows and vulnerable young adults with small scale businesses. Most beneficiaries on this project are market traders, shop owners, street vendors, caterers, bakers, tailors and young adults that need start up capital for small scale ventures such as purchasing and supply of clothing, procurement of raw material inputs for the production of products such as cooking oil from soya beans.
There is a cap of $500 per venture per person at any given time of which is returned to the fund without interest after 6 months for each of the five participating beneficiaries at any given time. Due to the demand and success of this project during our two-year pilot, our aim now is to secure partners in the private sector, non-profit sector locally and internationally in order to implement and operate a mentorship program for the beneficiaries of this fund in partnership with a relevant private sector partner.
To grow the fund and achieve wider impact with beneficiaries we are seeking private donors to come on board with a one-off donation that can be utilised to scale and empower multiple people over a consistent and sustainable period of time.
