Humanitarian Aid

CMF organisation has been at the centre of various humanitarian aid efforts in our target areas, most notably during the Covid-19 pandemic, numerous cholera outbreaks, national food shortages, flood crises, polio vaccination drives, malaria outbreaks and other health related crises.

All interventions are executed in cooperation with the relevant government appointed body such as the Ministry of Health or the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit.

Covid 19

CMF’s field team conducted community outreach covering sensitisation and awareness raising whilst distributing surgical masks and hand sanitiser. We also assisted with awareness raising of the importance of vaccination in the poorest communities which tend to be the most densely populated therefore at high risk in terms of spread of the virus. This effort has been coupled with facilitation of vaccination distribution for vulnerable members of the community by providing them a Ministry of Health professional to chaperone them to the nearest medical facility for vaccination. In some cases we work in partnership with the local clinics to provide mobile vaccination directly in the communities we target and that comprise of our catchment area.

Cholera

The very densely populated compounds (i.e.  township) tend to have annual cholera outbreaks as a result of the rainy season coupled with the lack of hygiene and proper sanitation facilities. CMF organisation intervenes by providing water purification technologies such as liquid chlorine/chlorine tablets for water purification whilst simultaneously sensitising the community on safe hygienic practices to ensure continued protection from water-borne diseases. Our organisation also facilitates the treatment of those that unfortunately do contract these illnesses by transferring them to the local Ministry of Health clinic to ensure that community members recover as quickly as possible.
